Background:
Brian had a very interesting car automotive background so I asked him to write a bio:

I have always had a fascination with mechanical things, so it was natural I gravitated to cars. Growing up in Southern California, I gravitated to 4 cylinder cars, racing Volkswagens and getting a vocational degree in Auto repair. I apprenticed in a Porsche/VW shop while going to school, learning an appreciation for Porsche engineering. I got involved with turbo charging helping a buddy with a turbo kit for his Pinto from AK Miller. We ran into this shop and went for a demo ride in a V-6 Capri. When he hammered it, broke the tires loose (with 3 of us in the car) before blowing an inlet hose, I was hooked on forced induction! We got that car pushing 15 psi boost at 8000 rpm, with no intercooler! It would spank a Boss 302 Mustang…up a mountain road.

From there, marriage, family, homes and several major job moves really put a hold on pursuing my passion. Then I picked up a new 1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD. Soon I was auto crossing it, then doing open track lapping weekends. Soon the modifications began and the car was a pretty good giant killer. Autocrossing became my focus and in ’93 and ’94, I managed 3rd and then 2nd in the Houston region championships in ESP class, missing first by 3 points out of 2000 that last year. The high speed driving schools and track lapping weekends hooked me on road racing and the Talon continued to morph with bigger turbos, intercoolers, fuel systems and suspension. My driving skills improved even more.

Then opportunity knocked, in the form of a chance to get a professional racing license and racing Grandsports in IMSA in ’95 and ’96. We campaigned a Cobra R Mustang and then a Pontiac firebird. We raced at tracks like Daytona, Watkins Glen and Road Atlanta. A dream come true! Then the money ran out and racing days were over.

The Talon was growing into a 400hp monster by then and my wife and I entered the Roger Ward Big Bend Open Road race n ‘98. We took third the first try in the 120 mph class averaging 120.834 mph for 118 miles. The Talon ran flawlessly..a tribute to putting the right, quality parts on it to survive under constant boost.

When articles came out on the Bullitt edition Mustang, the car really appealed to me. It had some quality parts on it from the factory to make it handle and stop… important to a road racing type such as myself. So, after 10 years of fun, I sold the Talon and bought my first V8 car. The sound and a wonderful thing called torque were a treat. That was until I got spanked by my buddy in his turbocharged Audi S4, and that planted the seed to turn #66 into what you see here.

With only 7 and soon 8 psi boost, in deference to the weak stock block, future plans include a built short block and a few other mods to be able to turn up the boost to manly levels. I can’t imagine what this car will be like with 15-17 pounds of boost!

Brian has a ton of pics of his Turbo Installation. Here is a zip file with all the photos: Zip file 850kb
