Background:
I built the original TT setup in the winter of 2003 and started with a kit that I had purchased on-line. What I found the most appealing about the twin set-up was that fact that it was designed for street application with small, quick spooling’ turbos and of course, it was visually pleasing. This kit proved to be a bit of a nightmare and we only used portions of the piping. I also chose to upgrade most of the stock components as well including the peripherals such fuel system etc… The goal for this set-up was to have a killer street car that saw limited track use. After completing the original install the Dyno was showing that the power was starting to fall off around 4000RPM. Mind you, this was enough to yield a 11.44 @ 124 MPH at 14 psi on BFG Drag Radials and 11.80 @123 on BFG Comp T/A’s. I purchased new turbos from ITS along with a Anderson Ford Motorsports PMS and external waste-gates months later for the upcoming winter project. Well, that project never materialized and I ran another season with the existing set-up. The following season, the car ventured over to Gould Automotive in Virgil, ON Canada early in the winter to be fitted for all of the new fabricating and plumbing. The entire ‘Hot’ side was redesigned and replaced along with most of the intake piping. The entire system was then tig welded and sent to Jet Hot for coating. When the mock up was complete, the car came back home where I spent most of this past winter in the basement or in the garage sanding, polishing, wire tucking etc… Up until this year the stock computer was sufficient to control the set-up but since the upgrade I have installed the PMS and the car has never been tuned. I actually competed in the 5.0 Mustang KOTS competition in Sept. 2006 and I brought the car to the event completely un-tuned. I dialed down the boost (11psi) with the hopes of returning home with a car that was not broken, which I successfully did. Unfortunately, the HP & Torque (547Hp & 575ft-lb) numbers reflected the low boost along with the Track numbers (11.82 @ 129.45 w/ 2.21 60ft). The plan was to, and is, to run 18-20 psi which would put the car right where I want for HP & Torque which is around 650/650.
