Future plans:
My immediate plan is to upgrade the fuel system on the car and turn the boost
up just a bit more. More importantly the plans for a Dart based 331 stroker
w/ 205 AFRs and a custom grind cam are on the way. When that takes place I will
be replacing the turbo with a T-76. Whatever goes from there goes. There are
many things that I would love to take care of on the car, such a new coat of
paint, baers for the rear, and a set of slicks and skinnies. I send my greatest
thanks to a few friends that have helped me improve the car since I bought it.
It is a great improvement from my old bolt on Fox body!
Background:
This car was originally built by a current member of Turbomustangs that lives
in Phoenix. He did a nice job of making sure the car had the correct components
for the power it was capable of. A good friend Paul who is also a member of
this site traveled to Phoenix to purchase the car. After he and Big Jay fixed
up a blown head gasket (now has cometics) and a damaged head months later I
bought the car. Since then the car has seen an AEM boost controller, 03 Cobra
Wheels, a full exhaust system that my good friend Rusty (Rusty's Total Performance,
the best guy to see for a turbo kit) built, a new 255 pump and various tunes
and boost levels with the AEM (thanks to Big Jay's advice and skills on the
laptop).
In my ownership, the car originally went 13.3 @109 on 4psi. After the exhaust
it ran low 13s at 112. Both runs with street tires and 2.2 60fts. With a new
fuel pump and another conservative 11.2:1 AFR tune from Jay the car saw 12.3
@ 121.7mph 2.1 60ft at 12psi. Shortly after the car dynoed 480rwhp and 545rwtq
(4000rpm) @ 12psi. I have had a great time with the car and will continue to
improve it as I can. My goal after the fuel system is to see how far into the
120s I can go with this turbo. Thanks, Ron.
