The car has dynoed at 888 RWHP and 917 RWTQ using a smaller Precision turbo
PT-74 at 28 psi of boost. I now have a 88mm turbo and will dyno with that
and see what I can produce with it. Stay tuned.
Future plans:
To add a powerglide transmission and put more useable power
to the ground.
Background:
I bought the car as a 4 cylinder and built it virtually all
by myself. The only thing that I did not take a part in was when the car
was painted. This car started with a stock block that I had bored
.030 and it had 1969 351 Windsor heads, x-celerator intake, C&S billet
aerosol 850 carburetor, E-303 cam, PT-72 turbo with a P-trim, .96 turbine
housing and at 18 psi of boost, it made 602 rwhp and 740 rwtq. I sold that
complete motor for $1900 and bought a R302 block, internals and TFS high
port heads. I also purchased a new PT-74 turbo with a Q-trim .85 housing
and with that I made 770 rwhp and 836 rwtq going lean up at 5000 rpms. After
that, I upgraded the PT-74 to a GTS tangential .96 housing, added a modified
CSU annular 750 carburetor, a huge air-to-water intercooler and completely
redid my turbo kit and used bigger exhaust tubing for more flow. All work
paid off with 888 rwhp and 917 rwtq at 28 psi of boost. I now have a Majestic
88mm and plan to dyno soon and hopefully that 950-1000 rwhp will show. No
matter what the outcome, I have no plans for a bigger turbo at all since
I enjoy driving this car on the street at will. I took a friend out on the
street back in December '04 and it was an instant animal once the go pedal
was smashed to the floor. The big 325/50/15 BFG drag radials would not even
put up a hint of a fight for traction........they instantly blew away. Right
now I have a TKO 5-speed in the car and plan to try and attempt to make
a pass or two with it before a major challenge of trying a powerglide out.
