Future plans:
Big plans for this year are the

to a carb style intake with rear facing throttlebody and the new bigger
turbos with 3.5" downpipes. I'll also be making some small changes
to the rear suspension to eliminate the rear coilovers to fit class rules.
Background:
This car was originally
my Daily Driver for about two years when I purchased it from my younger
brother in 1998. It ran a best of 14.06 with just exhaust and a drop-in
K&N air filter. It didn't take long before I put a nitrous express kit
on it and eventually had it running 12.80's on the spray with no other changes
and a pair of 26X9 hoosier slicks at the end of the 2000 race season. That
winter I got the bug and bought a Turbo Technology single street kit and
installed it along with a set of 42#/hr injectors, Speedbrain ECU and a
Pro-M meter. The car didn't see much track time in that trim, ran a best
of 12.65 but never really got the tuning bugs worked out, besides I was
a bit worried about the stock T-5 and orignal factory clutch (car only had
~34K miles at the time) so the boost stayed at a nice mellow 7psi. In the
fall of 2001 I purchased a 2nd car and decided to put a C-4 into the cobra,
the project stalled becuse of financial issues and didn't run again until
almost the end of the 2002 race season. I only made it to the track twice
in 2002, the first trip was very dissapointing with low 13's @ 107ish because
of a wrong converter that would only stall to ~2100rpm and kept the car
bogging to the 100' mark. The converter was returned and the new one was
MUCH better, the car felt like an animal on the street, but never made a
full pass at the track before the head gasket let loose. The pass would
have been in the mid-low 12's from the 1/8 mile calculation.
In the winter of 2002/2003
I decided to put in a rollbar and the FAST...that's when things got a bit
out of hand. I had a friend who really wanted to buy my single kit, and
I was allready starting to think about taking the car to the next level
so I sold it and purchased the twin kit I have now. That just changed everything
and next thing I know the car was completely gutted, rewired from scratch,
new 4-bolt based motor, powerglide tranny...the whole nine yards. It didn't
run AT ALL in 2003, and didn't make it's debut until the last months of
the 2004 race season, but it performed beautifully when it did. It's first
night at the track it ran a best of 10.46, and it finished the year off
with a 9.806 @ 138mph.
For 2005 it's getting new bigger
turbos (one of the 60-1's failed on the dyno over the winter) and a MUCH
bigger intercooler in hopes of some low 9 and high 8 sec passes...
