Cam choice
« on: February 12, 2008, 05:23:18 AM »

My project:

1993 Lightning
Stock 351w
Stock GT40 heads with 1.7 Roller Rockers
Trick Flow R intake
Precision PT76GTSH

I am looking at a few cams. First, the E303 and F303, but I've heard the letter cams are outdated. My other options are the Trick Flow Stage 1 or 2. I am really leaning towards the stage 1 because I think the stage 2 is too big for my heads. I would really like to get new heads, but I don't really want to spend the money on them right now. I still have to finish building the turbo kit. Plus, I am really only looking to run low 12's with the truck and heads with this turbo will likely get me in the 10's.

I dont think the swap from the stock heads to aftermarket heads are going to yeild 2 seconds in the quarter mile.  Before or after the turbo.  Possibly is you were running 12's on the motor then added a turbo possibly.  Here is a link to my 95 with a e-cam, 15psi from a PT74GTSH, edelbrock preformer heads, street tires, full exhaust.  http://videos.streetfire.net/video/dc27db40-5cf0-4a39-8414-99b80010f810.htm

There is a guy with good heads and a T76 running 10.8 weighing in at 4800 pounds. I should be closer to 4000 pounds. I think with the stock heads and 15psi or so, I could be in the 11.5 range on sticky tires. My friend built a supercharged truck with a totally stock motor and ran 11.7 with a Novi 2000 pushing 15psi.

When are you going to Cecil agian? I'll have to come see that truck run!  Two Thumbs Up!

Agreed.  With the stickies, good heads, cam and intake, 15psi, in the 11's.
