Another PC carb story
« on: March 31, 2008, 10:24:51 AM »

The sticky is gone, so I thought I'd throw this up so maybe newbies find out also.
Just dynoed a 65 fastback with a 349 and a T-70. The car shot ducks on the dyno bad, ended up pulling 8 jet out front and rear to get it to stop. Still wouldn't read on the dyno. Pull the carb back apart and pul out 2 PV's. Now this is a stock block car pushin 10 psi. And was pushing 10 psi before with a blower. It was even taken to PC with the blower and they couldn't fix it. Both the front and rear PVCR's were drilled to over 5/16, and jetted pretty high. I blocked the back completely, and lowered the front to .059's and threw a 10 pt spread back in it. Re-dynoed and it would start out ok, then dive into oblivion. The clutch started to die at about 4k, then the A/F would start to rise. But this thing has HUGE annulars in it. When the clutch is upgraded I'll probably try a proform main body on it. Shitty part is he could have modded a holley carb himself and been much closer to a decent tune right off the bat with Hangar 18 stuff, than the junk he bought for 900 bucks. I really don't know the HP level PC was shooting for, but it was two high. Funnier yet is the jet's had extensions, but the rear PV did not.  Doh! Not everybody knows about them yet I guess. Unfortunetly he said the only reason he didn't go with CSU, is these guys were local to him.
If I didn't know any better, I would have thought it was set up for alky.

I still have a written reciept, so I doubt you ever enetered anything in your computer. It was never lean, it was so rich it burned your eyes and that was at your shop too.The lean condition that WE thought it had was not even lean, but i bought a PE pump kit anyway. I bought from you based in a freinds recommendation(Jeff Beggs), when i was told to go with other competitors brands by other people. The only thing i remember you doing was changing the rear metering block for a "band aid" at your shop, which i appreciate, but really didnt help the situtation. You NEVER replaced the carb nor offered that as a resuloution for my problem.I realize it has been maybe 2 years, but the car ran so bad i gave up on it and it sat for 10 months out of last year.I do A LOT of shows and media events with this car and to have your product on my car and say good things about, will probably not happen anymore. Financially i WILL NOT pay to have it recalibtrated again at this point in time.

thanks for your response,

Mario

I know of a PC (perfromance Carb Ontario CA?) carb that ran on a dyno to 700HP, no problems. 383 SBC hydrualic roller with a small vortech. Drivibilty is fine. Not defending them in anyway. Just crazy what you guys post. I have one from a used blower purchase. I wonder if mine is junk or will run on the dyno?

Well like I said in my post, I wasn’t going to talk crap on them till I got my response, but after I got it and either Ron or Eddy said they TRIED to resolve my issues by swapping carbs, that is a total lie since mine was powder coated and they don’t stock custom carbs. I am really disappointed in the final product and the final service I got and I WILL make it known at every event I do.
