Stock 351 W - S475?
I did a search, and hadn't found anyone running an S475 on a completely stock longblock. It's a '93 windsor out of a pickup, w/ a vic. junior and blow-thru 750 holley. Is the 1.31 turbine AR going to be way to much?
I'm running a c4 with a brake, drag only, and I don't mind waiting a little bit for boost if necessary, I just don't want to burn up the trans in the process. On a related note, I have a B and an F cam I could throw at it, I just don't know if it would be worth it with stock heads.
thanks in advance

As far as lag it will have some, I would assume full spool 4000-4500. I would use the F-303 cam if you already have it. If not can I buy it? I am putting a s480 with the smaller 1.1A/R on my stock stroke 357W in a 1995 lightning. It currently has a 74gtsh. The s400 1.32 is a step above the GTS wheel. It will make more power and have reduced back pressure. Here is a link to the 74gtsh leaving off the foot brake. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Turbo-lightning-vs-WRX_135521.htm

Hmmm, I wonder if it would simply be out of it's usable powerband by the time it built boost...
I might let go of the F cam, I'm pretty sure I would have to flycut my stock pistons in order to use it anyway. Perhaps I just need to spend the extra money and do the S480 and get the 1.1 AR.

I have a s475sx on a fairly stock 390 cube Dodge. Backpressure with the smaller wheel and 1.0 T6 hsg is 1.4:1 at 15 psi. Not bad IMO. It has good top end pull and spools nicely. Just thought I would give my input on turbine wheels size. It is a good compressor size.

You have to pay a bunch extra for the 1.0AR turbine I think. I was trying to use the S475 because of it's atractive price.

I have a f-cam on my stock 96 351 shortblock. No issues to 6000 rpm.

With the 74GTS it saw 5# @ 3000, full 15 lbs @ 3700, in first gear. More in the higher gears.

So here's the question, would I be better off running a MP T70 on the stock 351 for now and selling it when I do the head/cam swap?
...Or do I just buy the S475 now and deal with it being ultra-laggy untill I do the head cam swap?
My goal is to run 7 flat in the 1/8 on a stock 93 351 longblock.

I would do a s475sx, If that is not an option, consider the following. I had a 67 P-trim 1.3 A/R on a stock 351 and it spooled quick but the top end power was reduced by backpressure. A s475 with the 1.32 will breathe very well on the top end but will not spool very well before 4+k. If it were me, and I had to choose between the mp70 and the S475 1.32, the S475 1.32 as you will have alot of room to grow.

and exactly who are you? ALOT of people everywhere have luck with MP turbos, the mp 70 has been over 600rwhp many times on many different setups. setup in twins they have gone up over 1k w/o issue.

Stay away from the ebay turbos, like I said before, the master powers have been very reliable. I believe theres a thread around discussing it, might even be a poll. Edit: http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=74174.0;viewResults

you guys are harsh, theres a reason people pick garret/bw/precision/turbonetics over master power and i dont even like garret or turbonetics.

Well, it sounds like the S475 is What I'll get. A 1.32 AR sounds like it won't be too bad. I have a transbrake to spool it, and I'm not that concerned about street manners. I just didn't want to cook the trans waiting 15 minutes to build 10psi on the two-step.

I have a LOW comp 306 with tfs-R heads, tfs-R lower, Igloo cooler, 90mm throttle body, 1,7/8" headers, 3" crossover, S400 with a 88mm comp wheel and that combo made 10lbs in 4 seconds on the transbrake before it was tuned @ 4000k. With 45 more cid and .8 (assuming you are 8.8:1 comp ratio) you will not be waiting long for boost on the brake. With the larger turbine your VE will be much better than with the P-trim wheel.

Not harsh but real! How many master power turbos have you had? How many miles have you put on them? To say that they are junk is pretty lame. They are an Iso certified company.... while they are not as nice as a b/w turbo, they are one of the cheapest reliable turbos on the market. I'm willing to bet that there are a shitload of people on here using them with sucess. Again not trying to be harsh but NO INFORMATION IS BETTER THAN FALSE INFORMATION
