67 Coupe
« on: August 13, 2008, 09:14:40 PM » |

I got it in the 6's. Best run was a 6.93 at 100.45. All runs were at 10psi on pump gas and ET drag radials. I have a busy couple weeks coming up, but next time out I hope to be making 14psi. I think I will tip a little race gas in for that. What kind of gains might I see going from 10 to 14 psi? The engine is a 351w with SRP -27cc pistons, AFR185's, hyd flat tappet, TorkerII intake and Proform double pumper. The turbo is an MPT-70 with an EV hat, Tial WG and BOV. The fuel system is a sumped tank, A1000 pump, 13204 regulator with -8 feed and return. The trans is a homebuilt C5 with 5 reds in the forward, 6 reds in the direct and a home modded VB. The rear end is a 95 GT 8.8 with a 3.08 gear converted for leaf springs. Here is the build. http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=107621.0Here is the vid. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/69410045_177035.htm

I would expect to see another 2 maybe 3 MPH out of it if race gas and you add timing. Did you eventually get to see timing marks on your plugs to set your total timing ?
PS, you beat my time, but I'm going back this weekend hopefully. Congrats on 6's.

Oh yeah, I've got some take outs of 07 mustangs that might work for you if you wanted them. Some 3.31's I think with like 7k miles on them, and some 3.55's

Thanks, but the first weekend in September I am going to try it out in the quarter. I am not sure my 3.08's will make it to the end. I may try some 2.73's I have.
I still see nothing on the ground strap. I am a little afraid to add timing with no cooler and pump gas. Right no it is at 23 degrees at 10psi.

Sweet blow thru classic! What did you modify to get the proform double pumper to work for blow thru?

This winter I will be getting a rollbar, frame connectors and harness in the car. I don't want it, but I think it may be a good idea. I am also getting a new house with a 3 car garage. Which means the TB will have to wait. I can get about 4psi with the 2 step and it hits 10psi in less than a second. It will knock the tires off about 20 feet out on occasion like this. If I get a TB I will have to also spend money on getting the suspension up to speed. The carb has the usual mods. Solid floats, bigger pvcr, reduced HSAB's or in my case blocked HSAB's, BRPV from the sticky and re-clocked vent tubes to face incoming air. Jets are 73 and 93 and pvcr's are .070". I need to up the pvcr's and go smaller on the primaries to get the cruise A/F ratio a little leaner though. I may get some annular boosters installed this winter too. Last trip to the track the A/F ratio was 11.8, 11.9 or 12.0 the entire 1/4 mile. Cruise is rich at about 12.8 -13.0.

All it did for me was make it richer down low. When you do the frame connectors, it's well worth the pain in the ass to put them thru the floor. The rigidity between my car and Rich's is HUGE !

They will be through the floor. The 2 step is on a button.

Awesome car! I was in the process of putting the fuel system in my car and was wondering if you had any pictures of your tank and where you mounted your pump??

This is all I have. The metal in front of the tank is pretty flexible. I bent a piece of sheetmetal and bolted it to the trunk floor, but it was not very stable. I added a couple pieces fo strap to help steady it up. I did not like the fuel line coming out the back of the sump. There was no good way to get it turned with out it stick out behind the bumper. It works good coming out the side.

Everybody says they are really quiet. I want someone to make a pass in my car so I can watch it and hear it. It is quiet from inside the car. Pipes go all the way to the bumper.

I mean if you insist on someone running your car so you can hear it I guess I could help you !Just kidding but I bet that guy in that newer mustang you were racing was like "Did anybody see what the HELL just happened"The great thing about turbo cars is they are quiet but deadly!
