What kind of muffler(s) is everybody using
« on: October 16, 2008, 10:24:51 PM »

I have a Borla 4" XR-1 Sportman muffler(had it laying around) behind my 349 w/ MP T-70 dumped off before the axle and its WAYYY too loud(or im getting old). The biggest problem is on de-accel it pops a lot. Im gonna run it out the back but not sure if thats gonna quiet it down enough.

What is everybody using and how loud is it??

I have used Dynomax ultra flows to help really quiten down louder set ups, works great.  Only used the 3" though, no experience in the 4"

Dynomax Bullets actually do a pretty good job if the motor is really mild/near stock with a turbo.

Have also ran a Bullet, and then a Ultra Flow inline with eachother, that really helped make the inside of the car silent, but outside was really deep. Never had any power loss issues with running these mufflers.

Anything straight through. I like the Hooker Maxflow. Not to loud or expensive and it's supposed to flow like crazy!

I am very happy with my Maxflows.  They are oval and perforated tube straight through just like an ultraflow.  With tailpipes to the bumper they are very quiet.

You could  try putting a race bullet in front of your 4" Borla then run it further back .  Race bullets are cheap .   Two Thumbs Up!

my friend runs dual 3 inch magnaflows and his car is quieter than my car with ultraflows. I'm thinking of changing over to magnaflows.

i ran a straight 5in downpipe and dumped it.   Sounded good, and actually quieter than my old s/c combo with 3" dynomax's.  I would run a dynomax bullet if you want it quieter

Right now I'm running 3 inch Magnaflows, still dont have all my turbo parts in yet ( for some reason thats been happening for the past 4-5 months ), but I'll go back with Magnaflow's..   N/A, they sound pretty damn good, deep mellow sound. With the turbo it should be desently quiet, the way it sits now, my Dodge Ram with ChokeMasters is way louder ( actually considering putting Magnaflows on it real soon ). The older I get, the quieter I want the car..   Here's a N/A vid, it's at the track so you can hear the Mustang next to me, but mine sounds totally different ( was running like total crap, but you'll get the point )..

I run the corsa db red 2.5" on my fox.  I love their sound.  They are dead quiet at idle, but have a nice throaty sound when opened up
