Is there any one out there using the new I-force 5.7 Toyota motor for a turbo car. Givin there track record for indestructible blocks, cranks, heads that thing should be nasty in a turbo app. I've heard the new Toyota trophy trucks make over 750hp N/A. Not saying that's true just hearsay.

If you want the baddest factory V8 built....look no further then the VH45. Stomp a mud hole in pretty much anything. Just a IRL motor transplanted to a family car.

I ask because I'm trying to figure out what to do with my 78 corolla 2dr. I was thinking about making it a true 10.5 car 2300lbs complete with big single on tundra 5.7 (car is 1740 lbs now as delivered plus dirt)

the nascar 5.7 is a copy of the ford and of the chevy did you ever look a picture of it. your gonna put a v8 in a corolla?!! wow that thing should really move.the one weakness of those engines you gotta watch for is the cams since toyota had a big problem with them.

Dude- totally. That tundra engine has pistons and a crankshaft like an american engine, too.

Wow, someone mentioned the VH45DE. I got a few of those, and yes, they got mad potential, yo! Heads that outflow the 4valve 4.6L heads, all aluminum and blocks with 6 bolt, cross bolted mains, factory forged crank, and even a main girdle from the factory. With only some reground cams, valve springs, rods, and pistons, one could have an awesome turbo engine. Boost and 9000+rpm all day long.

Yes the VH45 I mentioned above is the artwork by which all engines should look at. Heck even the block has a X-brace in the valley!!!! Unreal....in Japan they have made 2000hp with that motor already. Here is what I mean!!! Like mentioned...6 bolt mains, cast Iron block, factory main girdle, X-brace valley. The motor was used in IRL...so you know its a work of art. What is more staggering is, it was used in a family sedan in production

I have a 4.7 Tundra. I know that the 4.7 are pretty weak durability wise as quite a few guys have grenaded hem with a TRD supercharger. Most often a rod snaps. The cure is a SBC rod made to fit. The 5.7 I don't know about. They really overbuilt the rest of the new model so hopfully they beefed the engine too.

VH45DE came in the Infiniti Q45 from 1990 to 1996. The '90-'92 had sodium filled exhaust valves, but also had the plastic failure-prone timing chain guides. They can be retrofitted with the '94+ chain guides though. They're not plentiful engines. They came only attached to an auto trans so the bellhousing for any other trans is a custom fabbed sort of deal using the auto bell cut and welded. The 300ZX flywheel and clutch bolts right in though.
