finished my 88mm project, heres some pics
« on: February 09, 2009, 01:01:08 AM »

well lot of things have happend and some things have changed. But i did finish my setup.  here is the run down... 2002 silverado RCSB,  2002 4.8ci, PT88 turbo,  Self buit turbo kit, 4" downpipe and exhaust out side, 60# injectors, 60mm Tial wastgate, Alkycontrol dual nozzle meth kit, Tial 50mm BOV, LS2 intake, 241 heads, SCR of 8.8.  ARP rod bolts, PRC dual springs, 230/236 595/601 115+2 turbo cam.  its mated to a D&D viper spec'd T56 backed by a GM 14bolt with 488s  [these were left over from my 408 NA build.   future plans are to replace my blown up 408 with a new one and toss in a built 80e with this same kit.   i also have a LPE 2 step.  All work was done in my little 2 car garage

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Quiks-02-Silverado-Turbo_210579.htm

my fuel consists of twin 340s feeding a -8 and returning with -6

i have seen as high as 18psi with this combo. i have not yet dyno'd this combo since my one 340 died back in november and havent had chance to replace it yet.  tune is safe at 11.0 with 18* timing. i run on 93 octane.  my fuel cut off is set at 7600 rpms and i try to shift at 7k.  its laggy but once in boost it pretty much stays there.    in the video was first time out. i didnt launch well and didnt see full boost 9psi at the time till 3rd gear, then my clutch rod broke and i coasted to a 13.6 @ 88mph. it broke right before the 1/8 mile.  since then i have did what i could to fix my issue with my clutch. my last attemp was swapping the master for another one. now this has allowed me to shift under boost instead of backing off and then granny shifting.

the 4.8 if some of you going to question was tossed in cause money just wasnt there to rebuild my 408.  so i bought a low mileage 4.8 and tossed it in to work the bugs out of my turbo kit and learn how to tune for boost.  it seems to be working tho. the 4.8 loves the rpms and boost.    i periodcally check my motor with a leak down gauge and still stays around 2% loss.  not to bad for having 18psi thru it

also the tracks here are closed till april and have been since Oct, so no times sinec then

theres a thread on here little over a year ago, if you search youllsee my hotside being mocked up.

its a 6 litre driverside manifold feeding into a 2.5" crossover into a 2.5" custom log manifold with a T4 flange.  my wastegate is below the driver's floorboard and currently dumps

thanks bud i see your new setup coming along. as for a 408, i cant say when to be sure. with this economy and no job at moment cant say anything for sure except going to push this little 4.8 for every once of power it can possibly make

is this a stock 4.8 going to 7600 rpms, or did you change out any of the internals?

....backed by a GM 14bolt....

Out of an SS454 or did you have axles made?

I have not had much luck hunting a strong rearend/axles and a 5X5 pattern.

rod bolts only change on bottomend.  dual springs for keeping valves from floating

also the 14bolt is from a 06 2wd SSS.  the 454ss had different rear
