700rwhp from a 4.8, no way its never going ot happen
« on: February 26, 2009, 09:10:06 PM »

Quik's Turbo'd silverado making 698rwhp on dyno- Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5iLNAUTbH4

truck still had plenty left but was limited to the 5psi wastegate spring. so it was fluttering at 16psi..  this was basically right off the street tune. only changes 3* timing added and 8% fuel removed past 6k

Looking good, I would have never doubted that. If you keep it from detonating you will find the limit of the rods soon enough, with that kind of rpm.  Get any closer to 825 and we will have to take the little 74 off the GTO lol.

stock rods, stock pistons, stock bearings, stock mains. only thing touched on bottomend was rod bolts. only has 11k on it. built as general did.  stock untouched 241 heads, TTY head bolts, MLS gaskets

im thinking of rebuilding a 4.8 with 5.3 dished pistons and using some 241 or 243 heads. also for a budget turbo build.
did u know, speed pro has replacement pistons for around 400$ with rings. they come with grafal coated skirts.
i have used these 6.0 pistons in a 6.0 rebuilds with my own dd and puttin down just under 500rwhp, with some 5.3 stg 2 heads
they go up to .060 over and are available in 4.8 with flat tops and the 5.3 with dish. 6.0 are also 8cc dish

from the graph, it doesnt look as laggy as I would expect.

this makes me rethink the 76mm for my 283.

If you get a TC76 I don't think it would be a problem....esp since 283s like RPMs  Oohyah!
