dad went racing today and just got converted to alcohol and before he got to make his first run he broke a moser 33 spline axle in his 9" in the burnout . he used to run 31 splines but was starting to twist splines a little so we figured it would be safe to upgrade to bigger before he broke the 31 and now a 33 in two, has anyone ever had any problems with moser? I know they are good products but its just odd for this to happen with such a good big axle.

I had a set of strange 33's and i had one twist and crack but it was do to the fact the axle was just too short. I paid someone to build the rear and get the axles so i didn't have to mess with it. Check how far they go in the spool. One thing i always did with the spool, line up both axles and both valve stems so they are the same, that way when you check the pressures you will notice if one is moving. That is how i found my problem before it broke. john

Just remember when you are racing things break, even the best parts money can buy can break on the very first time out. I have broken 2 Moser axles and 1 Strange axle in a matter of weeks a couple of years ago and believe me I was pulling my hair out wondering what was wrong. I returned the axle back to Strange and they replaced it with same spline and I never had a problem with axles again. Shit happens sometimes.

I've run 31 spline Mosers for 12 yrs in my 3625 lb car. No issues on the street or track ( but ) I contribute that to just ft braking. Not as hard on parts. Love to run a trans brake but wife don't like me braking parts.

Still working on it...

I heard Moser uses a different hardening process than Mark Williams and Strange. I've got 31 spline Moses and if I ever have problems I'll switch to Mark Williams.

How much power is that alcohol motor putting to the ground?

I have run Moser's for years. The only trouble I have had was in a friends pulling truck. He broke 3 front axles in one week. We sent them back they said thay had a heat treat issue with that batch. They sent him new ones and have not had a problem since. He runs a 6200 Pro Stock truck making over 1000 hp.

How old was this axle? They told me last year that they had their heat treat problems fixed since they bought the heat treating place and can control the quality.

This is why you should buy strange axles.
