What mufflers do you guys recommend for a 331ci with a t70 turbo boosting 15 pds? Car has a 3 inch exhaust that converts to 2.5 with dual exhaust with the stainless steel pipes out back(wanted to keep the stock look) Currently have flowmasters(unsure if two or three chamber...but definitely not one chamber). I dont want it to be extremely loud but I feel that these mufflers are too restrictive. I want mufflers that are the least restrictive especially with all the back pressure these turbo setups see. Thanks.

Excessive backpressure, and slow spool, not to mention low HP numbers. I went with Borla Pro XS to keep it quiet, because they are straight through. I never notice before i took them to my exhaust shop, the inlet/outlet fitting are both 3", but right before it enters the muffler casing, it necks down to what looks like 2 1/4", total BS. I am going to be installing some ultra flo welded on the car. I think dynomax has a rebate on these mufflers till april 30th.

Yes I had the same on my 2 1/2" and 3" Borla's. They are only 2 1/4" inside. I bought a set of Magnaflow's. They are VERY quite and are not restrictive.

What about the dynomax ultraflow ss? I am trying to keep my stainless pipes out back for a more stock look. They show that they have a straight pipe inside the muffler to minimize restriction. Anyone using them?

Here are my Welded Steel Ultra-flows on my motor http://videos.streetfire.net/video/1995-Cobra-Mustang-427W_131776.htmXJHEAD, who makes those? Any idea how loud they will be?
A friend and myself made them up. I will be putting the motor back in a different car in the next couple weeks. I just welded up some V-Bands on them last night. I'll take vids. with them on and off, I amcurious on how they will sound too. I already have guys asking me to build them.

I have the ultra flow 3" round mufflers. I love them. They sound mean and yet not to loud. They are dumped before the rear axle.

I just put the oval magnaflows on mine and its not much louder than stock now. I tried the dynomax race bullets (way to loud and popped bad), mac flowpaths (sounded like shit), and even tried my trusty 40 series flowmasters i had laying around (popped bad and sounded like crunching tin cans). The magnaflow oval mufflers sound great and are a straight thru design so they help with turbos and exhaust flow. I used part number 11236 and they are great.

Those are the same i have on my car, granted they are very quiet, but they are only 2 1/4" inside, the inlet/outlet are the only part 3" about them. Take a look right where the inlet starts to go into the casing... Anthony

I bought a set of these when i had the Procharger . Never put them on because of the inside diameter . They are still sitting in the garage untouched , still in the boxes . I'll sell them if you want them . $ 60 each .

I know, but people worry about what they are looking at too much IMO. I called Borla before I put them on and they said that the inside surface area of the muffler was more than the 3 inch opening diameter, so they would not pose a restriction. I put them on. So far, on only 15lbs boost I've gone 5.80's at 125 MPH in the 8th, so they don't seem to be a problem. I have one of the queitest faster cars at the track when I go.

I spoke to them too . their explanation was there is less surface area than a 3" tube . They are of course comparing a 2 1/4 tube with a gazillion holes drilled in it , to a 3" tube with no holes drilled in it . So yes it has less surface area , but the oppening is still 2 1/4 .
