STAY AWAY FROM VPFAB
« on: August 05, 2009, 11:28:50 AM »

I bought exhaust housings from David at VP fab.  I ordered .82 housings for twin T3/T4 garrett hybrids.  Bottom line, he sent me the wrong housings, exhaust wheel was bigger than the opening and the overall width of the housing was smaller than my little .48's, so I knew there was a problem.  I tried and tried to contact David through email, his website even the phone number attached to the paperwork that came with the shipment...no reply!  Its been two weeks of trying to contact him.  I know he's a member of this board, but has he gone in hiding???  Bottom line, I'll take the loss now, but the next time I'm in his area, I'm going to pay him a little friendly visit!!!

I have had this problem before. The .48's usually come with a stage 2 wheel and they .82 Housings are not offered cut for a stage 2. I bet yours were cut for a stage 5, which is a bit larger than the stage 2. Either way, they messed up so they should fix it, but just letting you know its a common mistake because it happened to me before. Good luck getting this issue resolved. You most likely will have to upgrade your turbos if you want anything bigger than a .63.

That's what I used to think, too. But you'd be surprised. Seems that there is always enough people who don't know, to continue giving the wrong people business.

just to be clear, these turbos are form the hp stage 2 kit (57mm turbos) but were originally ordered with the small .48 exhasut housings.  David at vpfab would return emails daily when I was interested in buying the larger housings, but now he cant be found???????

So their website doesn't have any contact information other than email.  That would be a red flag to me immediately.  No address, no telephone, no fax.  I'm the materials manager for my company, and I wouldn't even give a vendor like that a second glance.  Also, a quick Google search says you're not the only one that's been scammed by this company.

Where are they located and what is the telephone number on the packing list they sent?

Well he is obviously getting the boot from here, but I will leave him alone incase he wants to come here and state his case, this thread will be easy to find as I will stick it to the top of the feedback section, so it doesn't get buried

I trusted him because he was a member selling turbos on this forum and he was recommended by another member.  But yes, you're right!  One look at his website and I should have backed off.  Our deal was done through email and paypal and because I waited over a month paypal wouldn't dispute it for me.
The contact info from the packing slip says:

Thanks...I would love to hear the "other side" of the story!  It would be great if he would comment...at least I would have some sort of contact with him(David).  Thanks again.

Funny, I didn't even notice until now that he went through ATP turbo to send the parts out... maybe he's a dealer for them or just the middle man.  Anyhow, I called advanced tuning products and left messages in the past with a details explanation with no reply.  So as far as I'm concerned they're in the same boat as vpfab.  I will never buy anything from both these companies and I hope all of you do the same!
