Since no one has answered this I'll give some input.
What bellhousing are you using? Stock 400 with an adapter plate or a jw ultrabell, ect?

I have a 157 tooth jw ultrabell on my th400 in a 95 mustang. Now its turbo so the headers go forward. I used to have a 5 spd in it with the lakewood bellhousing and that sucker took up way more room than my jw bellhousing.
I would imagine if you got headers that are made to clear a lakewood bellhousing you shouldn't have a problem clearing a 157 tooth ultrabell. I would imagine that other headers that clear other auto tran's should work as well.
