I probably wouldn't take the chance on breaking a factory DZ, but that's just me. I have no problem hacking up rare cars, but would rather build a DZ clone if I wanted to boost one instead of doing it to the original block. One thing I've always wanted to do was a 400 block with 302 crank for a twisting 321ci small block, but with turbos it's kind of pointless to build something so high strung.

Could always get a 1PC block and build a modern take on it. Use an L99 (baby 4.3L crank and rods then stick some standard 350 pistons on it and put it in a 4" bore 1pc block. Are you looking for all out or sort of a "have your cake and eat it too" build for HP and milage? If the latter you may even go with a 305/307 you find easily, or a 283 then build a 302 up to your wants.

The reason I asked was because our common GM V8 down here is similar in specs with a 4" bore and a 3.062" stroke to give us 308cui. Just wanted something to compare to

With a good combo there's no reason you couldn't make as much power as the Ford guys do with 302s, and they can make enough to crack a block in half no problem.
