well ive come to cross roads on which tranny to run. mild built 351w twin hx40 turbos. horsepower range is going to be ballparked around 500. im looking for a budget tranny to build. i belong to a car club and take highways to many car shows. so keep that in mind also i want manual valvebodies and a transbrake. my gearing in the rearend was geard for taller tires then what i have now so im going to need a new set 410s are a little pushy on the street. but with my t5 and old tire combo they were ok. so im looking for ideas on a tranny and if any sugestions on a converter throw them out there. the car sees mostly street action and a couple summer runs at the track.

for that power level and amount of street driving, a built aod is probably what i would look into.

Is there any other choice than a c4 when the word "budget" is thrown around....especially considering the need for a MVB and Transbrake?
Any way you cut it, you need to swap those 4.10's out for at-least a 3.55 (if you plan on running a 28" tire). Not only are they (the 4.10's) going to slow you down, but they'll limit you in the 1/4 mile as you'll be running out of RPM. If your running 26" tires you need to swap out to 3.27's.
Of course, you could always pick up a cheap 4r70w...slap a uber expensive MVB on it and still be a budget build. You would have to hold off on buying a "nice" converter for the time being....but good things come to those who wait.

Go to lentech's web site. There is an article on why the 1 D 1 shuffle is hard on the trans and some info on the mod. Click-Click web site is a good place for AOD, AODe and 4r70w. There is some good info on TCCoA too.
