On turbo hondas there is no room to run a filter on almost all the good turbo manifolds, so they all run screens like this. Kerry could make a KILLING on honda-tech.com selling the 3" and 4" screens.

I am going to be trying this with mine this summer and was going to put an outwear over to help maybe keep some dust out they used to work pretty good on my quad riding in the sand pits so I am sure it would work for this and should not restrict flow.

that looks like a good foundation for the screen door mesh Brent... it would probably keep it from getting flexed back and forth from the suction of the turbo and not want to get sucked in Grin

i use various screen sizes.  Depends on what the customer wants.
You could do a pretty penny selling this online. Sadly, I dont like doing business online so I dont do that.

BTW- I also powdercoat the screen mesh and they look totally cool in colors.

I'm like you, it is too much of a hassle to try and sell stuff over the net.  I don't mind showing how I did it so that others can make their own.

Thanks much Ryan but I tell you man, I'd love to be able to make turbo kits, make screens and all kinds of little neat things but I really don't like the headaces that are involved.  You cannot and will not please everyone that you do business with, therefore I just keep to myself and make a part or two for a few friends and that is it.

Here is my DIY Screen.  I run a 4" inlet Procharger D1.  I run this at track/dyno sessions only.  I run a filter on the street or put thicker mesh on.  I had material left over so I have made a few for others.  I use SS Collars and Clamps and Galvanized/Aluminum mesh materials.  I like the :bling: of the SS collar.

Just about every size.  With a few different looks.  They work really well if you don't have much room for a filter.  A small filter on a big blower/turbo will choke at higher CFM.

Here is a 3" with tighter mesh.

I have plenty of left over materials.  Definitely a DIY item but if you don't want to bother with it shoot me a PM.  For between $20-$25 you can pick from any of the styles..even Brent's(copyright pending Grin )

Ok, a filter (say paper, K&N) will filter out all the particles, and is great for your car BECAUSE it filters SO WELL and YET FLOWS.
So, this basically just stops the BIG stuff from coming in.  Your motor still gets the dust/dirt and stuff in there.  Are you guys saying that it's just small enough to go right out the exhaust side too then?
Here's what i'm thinking...
Heavy mesh on bottom, Thin cloth in middle, fine mesh on top.
Would this work, or do you think the layers will come out from each other?
I'd like to use the cloth because i don't like being able to see right through the thing!

But, maybe my worries are just fretting over nothing.

Things i've learned so far...
1) Keep zip ties handy.
2) Keep accessories off until turbo and headers are on.
3) Buy many grinder cutting discs and lots of welding rods.

The screen deal is more of a race down the track only thingy whereas a K&N is a definate for street use because of dirt and such.  I wouldn't trust driving on the street daily without a good filter bolted up.

:withstu:    Race only.  They help out especially if you are limited on filter size.  I picked up a couple lbs of boost swapping from K&N to Mesh at the track/dyno.

But some of these guys are using just this screen!
Isn't that a bad idea?
I have a filter that will work, but if it runs out of steam, i might try this, do you think that will happen?

The problem with that is you lose a lot of flow area by using the cloth. That's why air filters have pleats. . .it increases surface area so it can filter small particles, yet maintain a desired flow rate.

I had the DIY screen on my car the other day when it just made the HP that you see in my signature.  It worked great.
