I'll just say (for reference) that a Holset 60mm H1E / HX40 with a 22cm turbine housing runs well on a mild 383ci SBC. I'm running 12psi intercooled and it hits full boost by 3000rpm. I run to 5500rpm and its flows well right through.

Its been said that the Holset range behave like they're "bigger" than they actually are. I have to agree that there's some truth in this. My motor should be ideally suited to something in the T72 to T76 in the Garrett range - but it runs so well with a lil 60mm Holset!  Two Thumbs Up!

so my uncle owns a large diesel repair shop, and he has a LARGE inventory of the turbos that come off
powerstroke pickup trucks, what will a pair of these turbos support on a 370 ci motor?
about how much do they flow in lbs./min?
from what i have read on here thru search and posts, it seems like each turbo will support about 500hp
or so, perhaps 2 will support 800bhp?
any replies welcome

i have access to all kinds of diesel turbos for free, since my uncle owns a large diesel repair shop.
i am looking to make over 800bhp

If I install twin IHI's on my 5.0L truck (F150) motor would it be worth doing as far as improving power/torque and are the turbos going to be big enough to get say 90 - 100 HP at say 7 - 9llbs of boost .

Also gotta suggest a list for JY single setup's.
I'm a ford tech and came across a cherry turbo from a 7.3, .70 A/R . My buddy is running a Holset HC1 on his 5.0.
Mine is going on a Carbed TBI motor in a 92 yukon just for kick's while i'm building my custom injected L31.
I know you can't use any of the VGT stuff from the ford's without modification's,I thought of trying to use the VGT option
and controlling it using the EGR function in my ECM. Decided not to mess with it due to the high pressure oil pump etc...
Plz post up some good choice's for the big single's fi anyone has any.
Around here your more likely to come across truck turbo's before you run across car turbo's. With the growth of turbo diesel's they will be all over the yard's.

Kinda depressing, I own a GN and a Typhoon, and have had a Talon and a Conquest, ALL put aftermarket turbos on them, and got rid of the stockers.....should have held onto them

How doy you guys think twin gt28r would be on a mild 350.  I believe they are off nissan sr20det.  I am not an import guy, a guy owed me some money and I accepted the turbos instead.  Here is  details on it.

 http://cheapturbo.stores.yahoo.net/garrettgt28r.html
 http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/turbo/TurboMaps/gt28rcompress.gif

I am very new to turbos and just figured i'd ask.

Thanks for the input.

i have a 1987 vert that im building a diy twin turbo kit..im using the tb03 t-tbird turbos.. the 60 trim versions, i believe they come on the manual birds.  but anyway im just looking for pics if anyone has done this build ( im sure there are people out there).  also if someone could include like some sort of parts list that they used..trying to do it sorta cheap.  i already have the turbos..not sure if i can use the diesel intercoolers for a twin setup or not, but i can get one really cheap if its possible to use.
thanks for any help that anyone can offer me!!
thanks

Note that most of them are for engines between 2 and 3 liters.  These are the best size for a 5 liter because 2 of them would equal between 4 and 6 liters.

For questions about the Mistubishi turbos, Turbostangman will probably be able to answer them, because he has designed a kit with them and works with them in his business.

Most guys run Ford Knockoffs, notably the 69 trim models because they move more air in the upper RPMS, and don't run out of steam.

I am also going to request a list of single turbos that are good for cheap v8's setups.  All I can find for cheap is the hx35 and hy35 which are too small and the powerestroke diesel which is too big or are a pain in the ass because of the oil line.

Not sure if this thread is still alive or not with all the non-relevant posts but I'll ask anyway. Does anyone know of a website that has any info on the JY turbos listed? I've done a google search but came up with about 500 lists just like this with no specs. More specifically the 3.8L Buick stuff. I'm trying to set up a JY TT setup for my 408. Thanks a lot.

Here's another one to ad to the list of DIY single turbos. 6.0 litre Ford Powerstroke turbo's. I have one off a 05 PSD. It's perfect for my mild 360.

i found some usefull links that might help :
http://www.turbo-product.com/index.asp this one searches on turbo brandname turbo type and car/truck manufacturer , it has all the turbostuff in europe and some of the states ...... i did found that when looking at turbotype you dont get ALL the cars compared to a search on carbrand

http://www.turbo-product.com/index.asp this is a turbo calculator and allthough somewat optimistic on VE (2 valve engines have a max of 85%4 valves per cylinder do have 89%) it allso show a linegraph for the different rpm's on any chart they have in there database not all the compressormaps compare to the stuff from the manufacturers though

youre turbochoice depends on different factors topend power low end power twin single and efficiency
same as with cams the stuff you gain at one end you loose on the other only difference is with turbo's you can hurt stuff

other stuff that might be usefull is junkyard feulpumps regulators injectors and electronics wish can be adapted for use on turbocars

wat i realy would like to see is engine data (wat cam heads intake was used ) and wish turbo's are mounted maibe timing 0 to 10/20/30/40/50 mph times and up this would give a pretty good impression on which range the turbo's work

car-parts.com is a good website. its basically a search engine for junk yards.

i have found lots of hard to locate junk through here at really good prices..

got a neutral balance mopar efi flywheel for 35 bucks, set of heads for my excursion for 350 bucks... the shop wanted 1400 each!

i love that place! its like pick n pull for the internet.
