For the time and money in parts...this option does seem to make more sense.  Hat's off on the technique though, nice work.

i cut down and used a columbia river merge. beat one end kinda square and welded a t4 flange to it

its gonna come out of the pass side merge, facing the passenger side pipe. only place I could put it. I was going to run it smack in the middle of the merge but then my hood wont close.

Well, after trying to use the food color and not being able to see it I figured I would try something different. Plain old Gold Medal Flour and water worked great for me. It made it much easier to see but I did everything else the same.
