Rebuilding the HX35
« on: October 18, 2006, 08:56:14 AM »

Like it says. I am looking for info on doing this. I have seen in the past that there are upgrades for the coldside and such, but I did a search and "three" items came up. Anyone know the trick on breaking apart the cases on a well worn one? I just need to know all the tricks if there is a site someone could direct me to I would appriciate it.

heat and a hammer will get the hot side off. I believe its htt turbo that offers the upgraded wheels for the hx35's, making them a hx40/hx35 hybrid.

How much does the upgrade wheel cost and what kind of power do they support?    I'm working at my 305 and I'm still trying to figure out what charger to use.

It was an h1c and i got the h1e compressor and wheel from htt, I also cut off the t3 flange and bored it out. Then I welded up a 3in v band for the turbine inlet.

car made 411/426 at 11.4psi
and 409/412 at 10.8 psi
and 390/400 at 10psi with a hot motor and slipping clutch

My holset is showing its age, and needs to be rebuilt.  Also my target psi is 15, that would put my h1e closer to its effecient range.
A strait hx 35 is to small for a v8, They have 52-57mm wheels.  look for h1e, or hx 40s that have 60mm wheels. It is simmilar to a 60-1 hifi

Where can we get service parts for these?I picked up a hx35w for nothin but I see a line of oil leaking out the turbine housing and some fins on the compressor side have small nicks in them.

FWIW,I can figure out how to open that manual either. Can anyone post it up so I can just save it as a photo?

Some folks on Ebay sell rebuild kits. The manuals are PDFs(Acrobat Reader), some are in executable zips.

Ok...after a short stint, I am back at it again. I tried to smack it with a hammer, but I dont want to funk it all up. Anyone know the best way to take the shaft out? I have the cold side off but the wheel wont come off of the shaft. Its already dinged up (thats one of the reasons for the rebuild) but I dont want to screw up any of the other stuff on the turdo. Any help?
