Truck moved under it's own power today for the 1st time in over 5 years. WAHOO.
A few bugs to work out and truck isn't really DONE by any means, but drivable is a good start for sure.
The plugs were partially fouled from tuning, so a couple cylinders are not exactly happy. During the 3 drives around the block I could tell a few times those plugs actually lite off and WOW. Not sure my nut sack will be able to handle this.
Motivation to get all the little stuff done is high so be driving it to work in no time.
Video guy left 1 hr before the drive, but we will get video tomorrow of drive #2.

Mr. Local that was going to come video today got busy with home improvement project, sorry guys.
I did get plugs changed, and a few more odds and ends done. Spark plug change took me less than 30 min, not too bad. Of course hood is still off, but I could do it faster next time as 2 plugs require a special combination of tools.
The to do list is nice to have just little projects, ones you can go do 2-3 in a hr or two and feel like you got somewhere instead of the ones like "build headers" that might take a week or more.

Nice Project ! Thanks, it has been a long road coming. Right now is the real fun part where you can't wait to get home and finish the last few things. Not really meant for public but if anybody wants to see my own little task list of what is left here it is. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pmI89eWTqihMgst_eCRTEHASome other things in there also, like how to wire a PCS tranny controller to the truck, and a list of some of the parts I either need or already ordered. (although not complete by a long shot) Last night got the truck back up on jackstands for some of the final tweaks. Plan to in the next couple week corner weight and get the suspension adjusted like it should be.

Designed and built them myself. I look back at all the fab work I have had to do to make this happen, and it is starting to make sense to even me why it has taken 5 years. Thanks, it is fun to work on something for so long, only able to make turbo noises and dream of driving such a machine to actually being able to drive it around now.

Found out last night when I was working on a few things that half the injectors were not firing. I recently moved some wiring around on the injectors, obviously got something wrong which happens when you try new things. Moved the wires back to a more common scheme and got all 8 cylinders going now. Starts up a ton better, throttle response is great which I wasn't too happy with before but figured it was the tune. I would have test driven it last night but at 10pm, open downpipes and already starting it in the garage for a few minutes the neighbors were already probably looking out the windows. O well they need to wake up this morning, test drive and video to happen in an hr or so.

Very nice. I love that thing. Little more tuning and it will love the boost.

Yea, I really have not even started to tune yet to speak of, just enough to get it to idle.
So the minor pops in the video I know are from that, and I was only at about 25% throttle.
Need to get a new throttle cable and a better return spring as it likes to stick or come back slowly which is already not comfortable, I don't even want to worry about or think about that happening at full throttle.

From the pics you have posted I don't see a BOV on the charge pipe. Is it somewhere not shown in the pics? If you don't have one that will cause the throttle to hang open under boost, not good!!

I think your confused. A BOV has nothing to do with throttle staying open. I have been involved in syty's for many years, done a lot of tuning, ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cherKUV8Yek). Personally I think BOV's sound terrible and remind me of hondas. I can't stand them and plan to run as long as I can without one. Now they do serve a purpose especially on a manual car, and to keep the turbo from surging upon closing the throttle. But until my build shows I need one I will leave it on the shelf next to the rice. The tune is still was off. I started with a calibration for a stock injectors, and I have 84's. I have spent about 15 minutes total changing that calibration over to 84# cal. That 15 min. was when half the injectors (drivers side) were not even firing off. And I threw 6 gallons of E85 in there last weekend also. The video is such small throttle inputs it is scaring me already. New throttle cable be here today so that issue is fixed, last electric fan I needed showed up yesterday so time to wire those up. The bolts to get the propshaft installed are on the way so it can then be AWD once again. Probably one last trip to finish exhaust up and real tuning can start.

most drag cars dont run bov. no need in a automatic because you are not loosing the turbo speed by shifting a automatic. rick head told me deff not to run one. evan if im street drinvig. because im not runnin extreme boost on the street just driving arround.

New throttle cable is in, redid the vacuum line to FPR in -04 braided, changed out a make shift vacuum block for a real one (until I get cruise installed).
The other radiator fan showed up, so working on mounting it then time to wire them. Add some mufflers and it should be drivable enough cops won't have big desires to stop and chat.
Still a ton of little things to work out, but one at a time and it will be more than ready in spring.
