Yah for only 8 psi  with a girdle the block was getting some serious abuse. Sad I had hoped the block would last longer than it did. about 4 trips to the track And some street driving Pissed!

Was the crank hitting the block also?  That sucks! Do you think high rpms crossing the finish line at the strip had anything to do with it, I remember you telling me you were crossing at like 7000 or so.  I have heard high rpms is really hard on blocks too.  I dont plan on pushing mine near that hard......I have my fingers crossed for mine!!!lol

DING DING DING!!! I just thought of something... Take 1 bolt and stick it through the girdle and put a spacer on it... I am willing to bet the bolt tapers down at that point not securely looking the cap down, alowing it to float around. If you look at the stockbolt, I bet it fits the top part of the cap real tight, then tappers down after like 1/2 inch or so.... Two Thumbs Up!
Let me know what you find....

Not the cause; the bolts just hold down the caps the notch in the block holds the side to side movement
interesting thought anyway

Doh! Doh! maybe it was the first dyno pass that caused the caps to move 20+ psi    619whp @4500  Hmmm....maybe

Wastegate was too small, Now got twin 50mm gates will hold 2psi all day  Laugh Hard

Just going to spend the money  Spend Spend and Put a DART block in and crank the boost up  going for 1000 fwhp

Yes I Understand, however it appears to be moving back and forth.  I would have to see the bolt to be sure... They may not be intended for use with spacer and a stud girdle... you may have to swith to studs or something else... It may also help to tack those spacer to the girdle. the more things you stack up the more likely it is for the bottom part to move around... just my thought on your issue. may be it will help and you will be able to get back out there and play for a little while before you have to poney up the big bucks.... Two Thumbs Up!

well come to " torque" city.
my sbc often does that, twin gtk 550's
355 cubes,  010 block 4 bolt main
get some wet and dry.... ( 800 - 1000 grit)
kero
really , really carefully lap the HIGH spots off the main cap.
if you shine up the whole surface of the cap....
THATS TOO MUCH
put arp bolts in main caps, torque up to recomm torque
make sure tune is correct
try (  Grin ) and keep the rpm down
cheers

Hell yeah!

I had similar issue w/ the mains on my 4 bolt 388. But my problem was enuff for the rods to gouge in the block near mains.
Ends up the Milodon studs I used weren't all concentric. Straight but off center.
So after they were installed, the torque changed and the end was just a matter of time.
