Shane's car has had a KB blower on it, then a Vortech (I think), and now it's turbo time. Goal is to make more power with less boost and have more "thump" where the little 4.6 needs it most. We (Shaun and I) lucked out - no accessories to dodge. And still, there was a lot of junk to re-locate (all of the radiator hoses, pass. side coil, etc) to move. Anyway, got it running on Sat. nite, drove it home last Sunday. From a running car pulling in to a running car leaving, this took about 5 solid weekends. Shane is a real stand-up guy and was always there to get us lunch. Best of all though, is if we came up with a better way of routing something, and it involved buying new/different stuff, he was all about it. We laid it out thinking he'd outgrow the MPT70, so later on, with a flange swap and a little more downpipe strategy, he (meaning: we) will be able to slap in something with a T6 footprint. (We verified this with the Mack dumptruck Schwitzer we use as a doorstop around the shop.) Breakdown is: MP T70 w/ .96 turbine MagicBus Modular headers JGS 38mm WG (awesome) Ebay BOV RPS silicone couplers and adapters VS Turbo blanket (extremely awesome) -3 feed, -10 drain (Function 7 adapters) (Shane will fill in the rest) Started with the flange and connected the dots. CNC'd a "seat" for the two pipes, welded, and then blended the square area in later. Oil filter clearance was tight with the particular oil elbow Shane had on there, but we found another Bosch filter (not pictured) with a healthy amount of clearance. Here's a couple of mockup shots with part of the coldside, part of the DP, and the crossovers: We didn't have to move the bumper to fit the intercooler; the bumper IS the intercooler now! Edited for chronological purposes: O2 Sensor farm!

Thanks for the kind words guys, we really appreciate it. 1fast-turbo-coupe - so far the blanket seems to really do a good job, time will tell how it holds up. I'm sure the fact that the turbine is coated doesn't hurt either. But as im sure you know, anything you can do to keep heat in the hot side and to keep under hood temps down is a bonus. More pics of the kit post-coating, pre-wrap in the next day or so. -Shaun

First off I have to give a HUGE thank you to Shaun and Anthony. Thier work is great and nothing is rushed, it is all well thought out.
The car is still a stock 97 Cobra longblock, so it's only going to see 8PSI the rest of this season. So don't expect too much just yet. Next season has a good shortblock and fuel system in the plans, lets hope the funds are around to make it a reality.
The car usually ran 11.4x-11.6x w/ the blower, it was tuned very conservativly due to the fact that I was competing in a 11.60 index heads up class all summer. Just for a reference as to how conservative. On 10 PSI it made 399/323, this is through a 4R70W and not locking up the converter.

My welder is a miller synchrowave 180SD. We have access to an old sine wave 500amp miller tig, but we didn't need to use that at all for this project.

It's a 3.5" downpipe, and is single all the way back to a 3.5" Dynomax Race Magnum dumped. Bob Kurgan from Kurgan Motorsports had it on the dyno today. Just to remind you all this is still a stock shortblock, so we didn't push it hard. It made 429/397 SAE, 444/409 STD on 11 PSI. The A/F was about 11.8 w/ a sniffer, and this dyno reads a little lean, so prolly closer to 11.6. Only about 14.5-15 degrees of timing. The TQ is a little lower than I expected, but I'm guessing the HCI shortrunner intake it robbing some of that and the converter in the car was designed around my blower and is to loose for the turbo. The converter isn't catching up till 5300 and I think it has missed peak TQ by then. I don't plan in sending it in till winter when a good shortblock goes in. I just tried scanning the dyno sheets on my fax machine and they turned out like garbage, you can't even see the TQ lines.

thanks for the reply, it looks awesome. I'm running a single t70. Looks pretty much like yours but I used a different MAF and my downpipe is 3' and routed a little bit different.

The headers where made by Magicbus from this site. His company website is: http://www.turbochargedinnovation.com/They are very nice and you can't beat the price. We use SCTs software to tune the car, Bob Kurgan does the tuning. I am also using their BA2400 meter, we had to put a Diablo MAFia on it since we did blowthru. It was nearly pegging the meter. If you designed the system to be draw thru you shouldn't have any issues with it. The car has had a D&D Tubular K member and A-arms on it for years, any aftermarket K should work just fine. Especially with these headers. I have a MSD DIS4 ignition on the car. I have it for the 2 step, otherwise a Kenne Bell Boost-A-Spark would be fine. I'm still on stock internals, other wise we would have tried to get in the turbos sweet spot a lot better.

I still have 100-150 hp more before it pegs without an extender. BTW mine made 540 @14 psi.

How much timing was in your tune and where did it make peak HP and TQ? I'm assuming you have a 5 speed also? I think the auto is robbing some power in my set up.
