I have always been a Ford purist (still am to be honest), but after watching all of Denham's Fairmont videos, building an old box top 4.8 sedan for the wife sounded like a great idea. I am using the information from the Sloppy Wiki to complete most, if not all of the project.

Here is what I have acquired and installed thus far:

    - 82 Zephyr dream boat - this thing is a time capsule!
    - 8.8 out of a 91 Mustang with a LSD, 3.08 gears, and a set of extra 3.30 gears
    - Summit upper and lower control arms
    - New Strange adjustable front struts and rear shocks
    - 2002 4.8 with 116k miles
    - Craigslist "built" TH400, 2800 converter, and B&M shifter
    - 6.0 Flexplate and spacer (research tells me it will work with my TH400 and converter)
    - Deka 80s
    - Full length connectors
    - eBay manual rack
    - Pac 1218 springs
    - AEM 380 pump
    - VS GT45
    - VS WG and BOV
    - eBay 3" IC
    - Ford Taurus fan
    - eBay 65 Mustang radiator

Cool build man. I had a blue two door just like it. GL with the build!

She doesn't know she wants it, but deep down she does LOL.

She got a kick when I had her in the passenger seat of the Mustang, but the Mustang is at a point where I do not feel comfortable with her driving down the track for her first time. I think this car will be an excellent introduction!

Looks great! Will be neat to see how far the gt45 will go on a 4.8. Going with the stock cam?

From the reading I have done, appears the Gen 3 stuff isn't too happy with anything over 500 hp. I think 12 psi on pump gas will be a fun car for her to drive around. Yes, stock cam. In retrospect, I should have upgraded when it was sitting on the floor...

I glad you left it in, no one else does! Will be neat to see what’s possible with the stock cam.

At 500 and below it’s not going to matter a ton. The gen3 breaking point depends a lot on when the power is applied and how much you load it down IMO. If you want to lean on it, add the “big boost” well over PK/TQ to redline. A healthy Gen3 4.8 in a semi-light weight car should hold up well at 750ish IMO. Mine did anyway. People in 3800+lb cars making 15-20lbs at 3300 rpm with a 3.08 gear and a tall tire bend the rods quick. Gives the gen3 stuff a bad rap.

    Good luck with it!

You must have ESP or something! I started working on it again a couple days ago. I installed the CC plates, coil overs, springs, aligned the car, bled the brakes, set the pinion angle, and started working on hotside piping last night.

Now for the bad news, the car is up for sale. I have a potential buyer lined up, just working on it till it sells.

Hope you get what you want out of it, get it done or perhaps both. We'd love to see the new owner on to actually post about it for obvious reasons. I bet it'd be a fun street car for every day use.

Re-purposed a 3" down pipe from my 7.3 Powerstroke. I am awaiting 2-1/4" tube from Speedway and interlocking v bands from eBay. Once in, I will get going on the hotside.
