Figured I'd start a thread, I don't have this info compiled anywhere else. I've taken pictures most of the way so I'm going to try to make a timeline and get critique/suggestions along the way.

All started when I saw it on Craigslist....$800 no engine or transmission, bone stock with a pile of spares in the trunk. No plans, wanted to lower it and swap in a stock small block.... #ad

Started cleaning up the underneath, checking for issues. Didn't find anything major, patched a couple small spots in the front floors. #ad

 

All new 65+ Comet/Falcon suspension, CSRP disc brake kit using 4 piston Kelsey-Hanes style calipers and 11.5 inch rotors. Not the lightest stuff but works pretty well. This picture is missing the SPC adjustable thrust rods. #ad

I've learned so much from here I figured I better join in. Really helped with my decision to try blow through carb and I can't say I wouldn't do it again.

Steering gear box was in good shape, just needed some love. Was able to find seals for it so I rebuilt what it needed and packed it full of new grease. Steering is not horrible for a 60 year old gear box. Decided I should add some bracing, so I cut some square tube to fit between the frame rails and rocker panels, fully welded to floor as well. Excuse my welds, and looking back I think I should have gone completely over the frame rail. #ad

Engine bay painted Barcelona Red metallic, believe it's from a Camry haha. Once I got the bare block test fitted on the Crites engine mounts, started assembling that. New plan since my crank was trashed was a scat 347 kit with some off shore aluminum heads. Really enjoyed these finned valve covers that came on the engine, so I cleaned them up. #ad

I'm cheap so I didn't want to spend the money on the leaf spring move, so I cut up some steel plate and glued it together. Has held up well for the 4 years its been on the car, to my surprise. Rear is an 8.8 with factory 31 spline Trac Lock, 3.73, and discs scored from a junk yard. Has a guy cut it down to 54" and order my Mosers to fit. #ad

Cleaned up inside and coated the floors after all the welding underneath. Fast forward to car coming out of the garage for the first time. Waiting on a driveshaft from Denny's at this point. Trans is an AOD from I think it was Precision Transmission in NJ. I bought it used, 4r70 gears, PA "Hold" valve body, 10" PTC converter. #ad

Driveshaft showed up From Denny's, would definitely get another one from them. 1310 ends, which may be a little small now but that can be changed. While waiting on the driveshaft got most everything buttoned up under the hood. Trans pressure gauge strapped to passenger door so I could monitor while driving...LOL. #ad

Cool comparison of underneath, before and after. Swapped the 8 hole steels for some wheel vintiques steelies, and some 15x4 TT up front. Really like the Super Stock cars from their day. #ad

Pretty much just drove it this way for a while, burned up OD band trying to get it adjusted. Ended up taking it back out, having it rebuilt, and installed a Freddy Brown full manual valve body. Best decision I've made beside the turbo haha. Started working on the interior, got an S&W 8 point chromoly welded in by Pop Pops Garage in Laplata. Drove the 30 miles to work and back many a nice day. Loved every minute of it.

Got it to the track once, times were all over the place on my worn out 235 ET Streets. This was the best I could get out of it. It was hot as hell, but no one was at the track so I got 5 runs in and figured I better get it home before I broke something. Car did great actually, was surprised it wasn't overheating and ripping my welds apart on my home made rear suspension. #ad

I'm on the left with the red light, lol. This run was not my highest trap or my best 60', but best ET. #ad

 

After a couple cruise ins and car shows in 2019, this new muffler showed up. It had begun.

Mild winter in 2019 so I didn't want to put the car down any earlier than I had to. Wasn't until December that I started on it. Getting the carb prepped, got a BRPV in the primary bowl, jet extensions in the rear, and had already switched to the poly floats because a brass one cracked and I caught the car on fire. (Story if you want lol). Got a monkey fab T4 flange and flipped my Hedmann 1.5" shorties. Cut the ball flanges off to weld on V bands and start building from there. #ad

Piecing together the hot side, just ordered mandrel bends and used some scrap pieces either from the original exhaust, or what was laying around the shop to put it together. Used as few pieces as I could so I didn't have as many butt welds to risk cracking. #ad

Dual 44mm VS Racing waste gates, tried to get them at good angles at places to encourage flow when they open. So far so good at low boost, which was my main concern. #ad

Crossover finished, ported and welded the headers outside the flange. Painted with grill paint then wrapped. Surprisingly bolted back on without issues. #ad

Getting the ebay intercooler to fit behind the grill was the biggest challenge on the cold side. This was all cake work after the hot side. #ad
